NORWICH – The City of Norwich has had an ordinance in effect for some time regarding the display of political signs, however this ordinance has not been strictly enforced until now.

In his latest attempt to clean up the city, Code Enforcement Officer Jason Lawrence has announced that he intends to enforce the ordinance regarding the political signs during the upcoming elections. Lawrence has been the city’s code enforcement officer since September of 2005. Recently he has worked extensively on a new garbage ordinance, and a multi-family dwelling ordinance, that, if passed, will force landlords to have their contact information on a registry. The ordinance will also stipulate that multi-family units must be inspected once a year, to make sure there are no violations.

Lawrence will now turn his attention to the coming campaign and the use of political signs. According to Lawrence, he has been receiving complaints about sign violations, and thinks the public needs to be informed of the regulations in order to comply with them.
