New Berlin Art Forum hosts Orpheus Theater
NEW BERLIN – The Oneonta-based regional theater company Orpheus Theatre will be performing at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Unadilla Valley School.
The troupe will stage the musical revue, “There’s No Business Like Show Business.” The troupe will kick of the season of performances in the New Berlin Art Forum’s 2006-07 performing arts series.
The show, directed by Mary-Jo Merk, takes the audience down memory lane and gives them a peek of the future. This tuneful theatrical performance will feature songs, scenes and dances from Orpheus Theatre’s 23-year history in the tri-county area. Moments from “West Side Story,” “Oklahoma,” “Annie,” “Cabaret,” “Hello Dolly,” “Chicago,” “Anything Goes” will be featured.
The cast, accompanied by Musical Director Tom Horne, includes Quinn Bernegger, Carleigh Bettiol, Diane Ducey, Michelle Gardner, Randy Messing and John Willis.
Orpheus Theatre was created in 1984 to bring quality musical theater to the Oneonta area. The upcoming performance is the second time the company has staged outside of the Oneonta area. The theater managers said this venture is a major step toward meeting the Orpheus mission in providing quality theatrical experiences for the Tri-county area.
Tickets for the show are $10 and are available at Service Pharmacy, Main Street New Berlin, the Chenango County Council of the Arts, Norwich and at the door the night of the show.
