“Changing Seasons” opens at the EOH Gallery

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House Art Gallery welcomes back artist Jim Ridlon, wo will exhibit his collection “Changing Seasons” from Sept. 30 through Nov. 11 in the East Gallery at the Earlville Opera House. The public is invited to attend a reception for the artist, Jim Ridlon, on Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
“Changing Seasons” examines the way seasonal changes affect nature in a series of paintings.  Ridlon is particularly interesting in depicting the play of light and shadow within an ever-changing spectrum of color.  Ridlon attempts to capture the peak performance of each season and how such an image relates to the mood of the landscape.
James Ridlon is an acclaimed athlete/artist.  He played in the NFL for eight years, including being named All-Pro as a defensive back with the Dallas Cowboys in 1964.  Since playing football, he has become an educator and accomplished artist, completing his graduate studies at Syracuse University, where he is now a full professor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.  Ridlon is also the WSYR Radio 570 Network Broadcaster for Syracuse University football games, the Artistic Director for the NYS Summer School of the Arts/Visual Arts and a Board of Trustees member for The United States Sports Academy.
Ridlon is from Cazenovia and has a B.F.A and an M.F.A. in sculpture from Syracuse University.  His work has been exhibited at Canton Art Institute, Emerson Museum, Zenith Gallery, and many other galleries across the US.  He has won numerous awards including “Sports Artist of the Year,” “College Educator of the Year,” and “Football’s Man of the Year in the Arts.”  Ridlon has completed several major commissions including the “35th Anniversary Disneyland Assemblage,” “ABC Monday Night Football’s 20th Anniversary Assemblage,” and “ABC Wide World of Sports Assemblage.”
Ridlon’s “Changing Seasons” exhibit will open in the East Gallery on Saturday and will close on Nov. 11.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.  The exhibit can also be viewed by appointment.
