“Consider the source.”
If my grandmother was alive. And I told her about the shenanigins that went on at the UN recently. She would have advised me: “Consider the source.”
Maybe your parents gave you similar advice. Whenever you complained that someone criticized you.
Let us look at some of the loudest critics today. And let’s consider who they are, what they represent. There is a pattern.
The nut from Iran. I won’t bother to look up his name. He does not deserve that morsel of respect. You know the guy I mean. He spoke at the UN and, surprise, lambasted the U.S. And, surprise, George Bush. And millions of Americans.
Consider the source. He made it into office in an openly rigged election. So he is, basically, unelected. And his country and culture are losers of late. The bulk of their oil wealth never reaches their people. Such is the horribleness of their economy, their system. Millions are unemployed. About 50 percent of those under 25, out of work.
The culture has to suppress, by force, women who want to dress fashionably. And people who wish to speak or write their views openly. Or those who want to hold hands in public. His country has the cultural and political behavior of a midieval society.
The nut from Venezuela. His people are desperate for jobs and decency in their living standards. His economy is a shambles. It is only the high price for oil on world markets that has rescued the economy. His oil fields are going backward in production. Because of the inept management by his government. He is a loser, filled with bombast and hatred. Which he spewed at the UN. In its annual comedy revue of world leaders. The guy is a loser.
Of course Senor Castro loves to criticize us. Mostly from the prison he presides over. He is, of course, an unelected dictator. His idiotic management of the economy has kept the bulk of his people poor for decades.
Nikita Krushchev came to the UN and banged his shoe on the desk. He had more criticism of America than Warren Buffett has nickels. Consider the source: Brutal dictator. Imprisoned virtually all his people. Most could not travel beyond its borders. He clung to an anemic economic system, no matter how poorly it performed.
Mao and his cohorts of “Old China” blistered America every chance they got. They were losers, the lot. They had to murder millions. They sentenced millions to poverty by persisting with a dismal economic system. They smothered the potential of hundreds of millions who yearned to be free.
And in this country, who are the most shrill critics of the country and its various institutions? Including, of course, its current President?
Michael Moore. A long list of movie stars. People of the far left.
Consider the source. They have been losing at the polls. Repeatedly. Even if they manage to wrench control of one of the houses of Congress this time around it will scarcely look like a huge victory. After all, this is an unpopular war. And the Republicans have been spendthrifts in Congress. Mid-terms usually go against the sitting president. Last mid-term the left lost. Their candidates for the White House keep losing. There is a good chance they will be shutout again this mid-term. A strong, vibrant Democratic party would clobber the Republicans.
This week we’ve heard more cries against Walmart. Because the giant retailers is going to sharply lower the cost of generic drugs. Who cries the loudest? Those who cannot compete. Those unions who want to recruit Walmart workers. Not many of the customers do. And when Walmart offers jobs many thousands line up to apply.
There is a lot of hate in the air these days. With each whiff of it, I remember my grandmother’s words.
