Major's Inn hosts quilt show this weekend
GILBERTSVILLE – After a year of planning and organizing volunteers from the Major’s Inn are ready to put on the annual Quilt Show.
Theme of this year’s show is “Harvest of Quilts.” The shows will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 7 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct.8. All shows will be held at the Majors’ Inn in downtown Gilberstville. There will be a $5 donation that benefits restoration of the inn.
The show will include a mixture of antique, vintage and new quilts. The quilts will be displayed throughout the 52-room Tudor style inn. Volunteers say the inn itself provides the perfect atmosphere for the show. The inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This year’s featured quilter is Aileyn Renli Ecob. Ecob’s work was featured in the December 2004 Quilter Newsletter Magazine. Aileyn has won many blue ribbons in the San Francisco Bay area, where she lives. She and other award winning quilters will be in attendance to answer questions and to do demonstrations.
A lunch including homemade soup, sandwich, potato salad, macaroni salad, homemade pie or cake, and a beverage is available all three days for an additional $5.
The show will include approximately 55 quilters either showing, selling or both. There will be three raffle quilts and volunteers are anticipating on 450-500 guests at this year’s show.
There is also a Shop Hop sponsored by eight local quilt shops with daily drawings at each shop. Grand prizes are $400 and $200. Registration is $5 and will benefit Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Research. For Shop Hop information or to register, call Nona Slaughter toll free at 1-866-783-2872 or e-mail leatherstockingshophop@tds.net.
