Voter registration deadline nears
NORWICH – Friday is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming elections on Nov. 7. In order to vote, residents must register with the Chenango County Board of Elections by this Friday. Voters can register in person at the Chenango County Office Building or they can register by mail as long as the postmark is no later than Oct. 13. Residentss can get these mail-in forms from their local town or village clerks. Board of Elections Commisioner Harriet L. Jenkins said people should come to the county building so they can make sure they get registered.
To contact the Board of Elections, call 337-1760 or 337-1762, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office will also have extra hours Oct 26, 8:30 a.m. till 7 p.m., Oct. 28, Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon, Nov. 2, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Nov. 4, Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.
In order to register, one will need either their I.D. number found either on a New York State driver’s licsense or NY identification card; if that is not an option you can register using your Social Security number. The form takes only a few minutes to complete.
