Norwich merchants jump on Pumpkin Fest bandwagon
NORWICH – The Norwich Merchants Association will once again be working with the Pumpkin Festival to present the Boo Bash Scavenger Hunt Giveaway. From 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, or from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, participants will have the opportunity to win over $300 in gift certificates.
The Boo Bash is sponsored by the 15 businesses that make up the Norwich Merchants Association. These include: Hayes Office Supply, New to You Consignment, Skillin’s Jewelers, Ives Cream, Townsends Variety, Made in Chenango Gallery, Arnell Music, The Coffee Connection, Service Pharmacy, Unique Boutique, Village Cobbler, McLaughlin’s Department Store, McNeil Jewelers, Silvernails Florist and Gift Shop, and First Edition Book Store.
Each contestant must stop at each of the participating businesses, in the required order, and say “Boo Bash, Boo Bash, Give me your stash!” Each business will give the contestant a small prize or trinket, and stamp your entry form to prove you obtained the item. When you have collected them all, you must take your entry form to First Edition Book Store, along with all of the items. You will then be entered into a drawing for the grand prize. Three winners will be awarded with five $20 gift certificates from the participating businesses.
The contest is open to children 12 years old and younger and to senior citizens only. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
The contest has been part of Pumpkin Fest for the last 4 or 5 years. It has become so popular that the Norwich Merchants Association has been asked to do it again during the Christmas season. The Stocking Stuffer event will take place later this winter. All of the same merchants have agreed to be involved.
