Greene placed among the top-three teams in Section IV’s Class C meet last weekend, the highest place finish in school history.
Freshman Helen Zaengle starred on the sectional stage with a first-place finish in the 500 free timing a school-record, 5:36.56, she placed second in the 200 individual medley, also in a school-record, 2:20.94, and she competed on the third-place 200 medley relay along with Lizzy Buhl, Paige Vermaat, and Maureen Buck. Buhl added second-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:05.17.
“This was a perfect end to a perfect season,” said Greene coach Mike Platta. “We won our league title and finished higher than we ever have in sectionals. I could not be any prouder of the athletes.”

Cross Country

Boise moves on
Sherburne-Earlville senior, Mitch Boise, returns to the state cross country meet after a sixth-place finish at the Section III, Class C meet last weekend.
Boise’s placing came in a 162-boy field timing a 17:16. Brett Buell added a 19:58 for 80th, and the Marauders had a five-person average time of 19:52. “To have five guys average under the 20-minute mark, I think that was outstanding,” said S-E coach Anne Geary. “As a team you try to peak at the end of the season, and all the girls on the squad finished with personal-best times.”
Jasmine Huff wound up 72nd out of 120 runners clocking a 23:36 to pace the S-E girls.
The Marauders’ boys placed 14th out of 23 teams, while S-E’s girls were incomplete. Boise finishes his season this coming weekend at Warwick.
