Maiurano wins city's top spot

NORWICH – In unofficial results from Tuesday's elections, former Ward 5 Alderman Joseph Maiurano will keep the mayoral post he's held since the May death of former Norwich Mayor Robert Raphael Jr. Maiurano defeated challengers Michael Carnrike and Vincent Anthony to finish out the final year of Raphael's term.

In the hotly-contested race for NYS State Supreme Court Justice in the 6th District, Chenango native Elizabeth Garry, a Democrat, bested Madison County Republican Judge Dennis McDermott for the 13-county post.
