NORWICH – Thursday afternoon around 1 p.m., two cars collided at high speed at the intersection of Rt. 44 and State Hwy 12. The Chenango County Sheriff’s Department and other emergency agencies responded. The two drivers were rushed to Chenango Memorial Hospital by ambulance; a third passenger received minor wounds and was treated at the scene.

A gray ‘89 Mazda pickup truck pulled out in front of a 2002 black Lexus, the driver apparently failing to see the oncoming car. The Lexus struck the passenger side of the pickup. There were no visible skid marks at the scene and the Lexus hit the pickup at full speed, witnesses said. Both drivers were taken to the hospital, but were conscious after the accident. This accident began following a separate accident involving a motorcycle that happened just before.
