ES Special Report: How Safe Are Our Schools?
Violence in our nation’s schools is a problem that has garnered increasing attention over the last decade. It started with students turning on each other in one horrific incident after another. Just recently, schools were compromised by outside forces who chose to inflict their wrath on innocent students. Last week, Evening Sun reporters tested access procedures at several Chenango County schools in an effort to gauge their effectiveness, and to see what measures are being taken to safeguard our children. In Tuesday's special edition, you’ll read insight and reactions from school administrators, parents, students, law enforcers and leading experts. You’ll also read the personal accounts of each reporter’s experience, and see what conclusions we’ve drawn from this subjective experiment.
