GREENE – Greene advanced to the finals of its own tip-off tournament tonight against Whitney Point in a blowout of Harpursville Saturday.
Trevor Johnson came off the bench to score a game-high 17 points to lead four Trojans in double figures scoring. Mike Porter added 15 points, nine steals and five assists, Chris Engler added 12 points, Donny Amell had 10 to go with five steals, and Ben Williams added nine points, five steals, and four assists. “Harpursville was pressuring us full-court into the fourth quarter, so that didn’t help keeping the score down,” said Greene coach Jeff Paske.
Greene (1-1) finished 60 percent from the field and plays Whitney Point at 8:15 p.m.

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville moved onto the finals of its own tournament beating Rome Free Academy, and it will play Westhill Dec. 16, who defeated Unadilla Valley in Saturday’s preliminary game.
RFA closed a 10-point halftime deficit to four points in the third quarter before Gabe Fowler ignited the S-E offense rattling off nine straight points to move the margin back to 13. All the while, S-E held the RFA offense in check throughout.
“We were a good defensive team last year, and we’re trying to make that our ‘M.O.’ this year as well,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard.
Wilson Rose led S-E with 20 points and 10 boards, Fowler scored 19, and Jon Pinney 14. The Marauders host Hamilton Tuesday.
Westhill used its superior court speed and quickness to move a one-point first-quarter lead to 13 at halftime. Jim Ross scored 13 points in the second quarter, and led the winners with 24 points.
“We tried to switch defenses, but it didn’t matter what we played,” said UV coach Matt Osborne. “They hit the open shots, and they also moved the ball around a lot and got good penetration.”
Matt Potter had 14 points for UV and Raffi Perry added 11. UV is at Oxford Tuesday.

ENDWELL – Maine-Endwell had a decided edge at the free throw line, and pulled away from a tight game int he fourth quarter finishing the game on a 12-0 run.
Michelle Phillips scored 11 points to pace a balanced M-E attack. Norwich closed a 28-23 third-quarter deficit to one point scoring the first two baskets of the fourth before top returning scorer and four-year starter Alicia Testani fouled out.
“When a team has a big advantage from the free throw line (22 attempts to zero), that statistic is difficult to overcome,” said Norwich coach Bob Branham. “Offensively, we had a tough time putting points on the board with or point guard (Testani) not on the floor.”
Minda Moore scored a career-high 17 points to lead Norwich, who host Sidney Friday at 7:45 p.m.

Greene 51, Southern Springs 43
SOUTHERN SPRINGS – Greene won just four overall events and just one of the final four races, but made up the gap with nine second-place finishes and a pair of one-two finishes late in the meet.
“It was a tie score after the 100 butterfly, but we were able to sweep first and second in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, and that was pretty much the margin of victory,” said Greene coach Mike Platta.
The Trojans won the meet-opening 200 medley relay, and added individual wins from Peter McCauley, David Yeager, and Zach Hennesey.
Greene (1-0) is at Oneonta Tuesday.
