Police investigate purse snatching

NORWICH – A “strong-arm robbery” is currently under investigation by the Norwich City Police. A woman walking near the intersection of Elm Street and Eaton Avenue Saturday had her purse ripped away from her by an attacker who then fled the scene. Police said the man approached the victim from behind and forcibly took the purse from around her shoulder. The attack occurred around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
The suspected fled on foot and police conducted a search of the area with the assistance of Chenango County Sheriff Department’s K-9 unit, but did not locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as being a white male, 5’ 10” to 6’ feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a blue Carhart jacket and blue jeans at the time of the incident. If you have any information, contact the City PD at 334-2424; all leads will be kept confidential.
