Voices of Tabernacle present a holiday concert

SHERBURNE – A holiday concert will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of Epiphany on Classic Street in Sherburne. The concert will feature both vocal and instrumental numbers and holiday melodies.
Anita Humer will direct the group as they perform a festive selection of holiday favorites. According to Humer, “a commitment to making beautiful music is always the first consideration.” Accompaniment will be provided by Rosemary Jaytanie, and “adding some festive flavor will be mattlet percussionists Cathy and Ray Thiekle,” she said.
“The concert will present traditional holiday favorites, sung by The Voices of Tabernacle,” Humer said. In addition, some of Humer’s most promising piano students will perform for the crowd, including: Jason Handy, Mike Khoury, Hugh Zhao, Shannon and Stephanie Staley, Courtney Cooper, Gwenyth and Suzannah Davies, Hayley and Gabrielle Chswazik-Gee and Adrian Enscoe.
“The group of 35 members, consisting of adults and young people, come from nine surrounding towns,” Humer said. They have been preparing for the concert since September. Vocal duets will be performed by Becky and Stephen Sabin and Stephanie and Shannon Staley.
“Come and hear a varied program of festive and joyful music making that heralds the beginning of the holiday season,” Humer said. Tickets will be available at the door. According to Humer, the concert will be made possible by funds from the Broome and Chenango County arts decentralization grants. It is sponsored by the Episcopal Church of Epiphany.
“It is a concert not to miss because it’s a program of great variety, including choral and instrumental music,” Humer said.
