S-E Class of '08 stages talent show Friday
SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville Class of 2008 will be trying out a new fundraiser on Friday night. The class will be holding their first talent and variety show, and they hope the show will become an annual success.
Sixteen performers will take to the stage in the auditorium at the S-E High School. Performers from both middle school and high school grade levels will be singing, dancing, acting, juggling and joking. Performances vary greatly, but some of the acts will include performances by two rock bands, one balance board performance, a juggling act and some variety acts.
The show will be a competition, with winners at the middle school and high school level each receiving a $50 cash prize. Three judges have been chosen to pick the winner, although none of them are professionally trained. Two faculty members from the high school and one from the middle school will judge the performances and assign them a numerical score. Stacey Mottl, one of the advisors for the Class of 2008, assured the children that there will not be a Simon Cowell in the bunch. “Kids kept asking if people were going to say mean things after they performed,” Mottl said. She assured them that while there are two male and one female judge, this wouldn’t be an ‘American Idol’ -like contest.
