S-E Reid rolls first 300 game in conference history
EARLVILLE – Morgan Reid, a sophomore at Sherburne-Earlville, rolled the first 300 game for a girl in Chenango County high school competition in Thursday’s 5-0 shutout win over Herkimer.
It was the first 300 game for any woman at Hi-Skor Lanes, and Reid’s 776 series was a school and Center State Conference league record.
“It was just amazing,” said S-E girls bowling coach Danielle Goedel. “Her last ball in the 10th frame was a Brooklyn-side strike, so there was some luck there.”
Heading into Thursday’s match, Reid was leading the league in average (202), a total 40 pins better than the next highest competitor in the CSC. She had 24 strikes in a row at one point finishing an opening-game 244 with six strikes, then after 12 straight in her 300, started her 232 final game with six straight.
In the boys’ competition, S-E had a season-high 2,901 led by Don Philhower’s 680 series in a 5-0 win.
