Ron Alston scored 16 for the Wildcats and Dan Baxter 14 in the win. “We knew we had to play at a new level of competitiveness and quickness with the ball tonight, and we didn’t do that,” said Raiders coach Bill Hartman. “We, as a team, did not communicate well on the floor.”
Dan Moreno led G-MU (8-4) with 12 points and Peter Schmidt added 11. The Raiders play at Edmeston Friday.

GREENE – Mike Porter hit two free throws with .8 seconds remaining in the game to give Greene a one-point win over Delhi Tuesday.
Delhi, who had trailed since a first-quarter advantage, grabbed its only lead of the second half on Pat O’Connell’s baseline hoop with 20 seconds left.
“We were playing from in front most of the game, and I think we may have gotten a little lackadaisical in the fourth quarter,” said Greene coach Jeff Paske. “We relaxed, and I thought we could have done a better job closing them out.”
John Carlin scored all eight of his points in the second and Don Amell six helping the Trojans erase an early Delhi lead. Porter led Greene with 17 points.

BAINBRIDGE – Oxford won its fourth straight game and held back B-G’s comeback bid in the second half Tuesday.
The Blackhawks led by as many as 12 in the second half, however, the Bobcats closed to within three points in the fourth quarter behind the scoring of senior Willie McGinnis. Steve Locke had two key baskets in the last stanza for Oxford to keep his club in the lead.
Kyle Smith sparked Oxford (7-6) off the bench scoring all seven of his points in the second quarter helping his club establish a seven-point halftime lead. “We let down a little on defense in the second quarter, and they scored some fast-break layups that hurt us,” said B-G coach Ben Nelson.

NORWICH – Seton Catholic Central turned back Norwich’s early second-half threat with a dominating end to the third quarter to hand the Tornado their fifth loss in six games against STAC opponents.
Brittany Cargill hit an outside shot for Norwich in the first 20 seconds of the third quarter drawing the Purple to within 24-17. The Saints finished the stanza on a 17-4 burst getting eight points off the bench from Megan Bellingham, who had her team’s final six points of the stanza. “They have good balance on their roster and there isn’t one player you can key on,” said Norwich coach Bob Branham.
Guard Katherine Torto hit four outside shots in the first quarter giving the Saints a 16-8 lead. Torto led with 11 points and Bellingham added 10.
Alicia Testani scored 11 for the Tornado (7-6), who are averaging just 36.5 points per game over the last seven contests. “Good man-to-man defensive teams have given us trouble, and when you don’t score, it affects your defense,” Branham said.

Martin led the charge in a 17-8 second quarter scoring 14 of her team’s points to move her club in front by two at halftime. “Martin did a good job inside, and her outside shooting is getting better,” said OV coach Kevin Springer. “She’s capable of scoring a lot of points, and I thought she was in the twenties again. I looked at the book and thought, ‘holy cow.’”

Patrick Kelsey and Chris Osterwald had back-to-back wins in the 200 IM and 50 freestyle early on, and Osterwald’s win keyed an early surge in which the Trojans took three of the top four spots. Later on, Aaron McCauley led a top-three sweep for the Trojans in the 500 freestyle.
“We had a number of kids swim personal bests tonight, and we needed every one of those swims,” said Greene coach Mike Platta.

OLD FORGE – Otselic Valley stopped a four-game losing streak rallying from an 11-0 deficit to start the game, while also getting a career-high 35 points from sophomore Kylie Martin.
Martin led the charge in a 17-8 second quarter scoring 14 of her team’s points to move her club in front by two at halftime. “Martin did a good job inside, and her outside shooting is getting better,” said OV coach Kevin Springer. “She’s capable of scoring a lot of points, and I thought she was in the twenties again. I looked at the book and thought, ‘holy cow.’”

CHENANGO BRIDGE – Greene overcame Chenango Valley’s edge in total wins with superior depth to win a non-league matchup Tuesday night.
Patrick Kelsey and Chris Osterwald had back-to-back wins in the 200 IM and 50 freestyle early on, and Osterwald’s win keyed an early surge in which the Trojans took three of the top four spots. Later on, Aaron McCauley led a top-three sweep for the Trojans in the 500 freestyle.
“We had a number of kids swim personal bests tonight, and we needed every one of those swims,” said Greene coach Mike Platta.
Greene (10-1) hosts Sherburne-Earlville Thursday.

After Mike Ezzo, Zach Thomas, John Posson, and Chris Pike earned wins at 170, 171, 189, and 215 pounds respective, Matt Cosens scored a big win taking a 10-5 decision over Den Gardner to make it 19-0. “Matt’s win was big for us because that match could have been a six-point swing,” said S-E assistant coach Brian Hicks. “We had some confidence and he kept it rolling.”
The Marauders improved their dual record to 5-1 on the season.
