Cafe and coffee roaster opens in South Otselic
SOUTH OTSELIC – Residents of South Otselic are about to experience a new treat – good food, great coffee and entertainment. Bill McCurry, who moved to South Otselic in 1975, has just opened Chenango Coffee Roasters.
Located in the heart of South Otselic, on Route 26 next to NBT Bank, Chenango Coffee Roasters is a new venture for the community. “I never expected to get back into the cafe business,” McCurry said. Although he owned another cafe during his time living in Woodstock, McCurry had decided that during his “retirement” he would roast coffee beans only. However, after finding a great location at a reasonable price, McCurry is back in the business he left behind.
“The business has received great support from the community. It’s phenomenal,” McCurry said. During his first three weeks of business, he has already developed a regular flow of customers and more are hearing about it all the time. From town officials to the high school basketball team, everyone seems to be enjoying the addition to their town.
Two high school students have already been hired to help after school. In addition to tending the shop, McCurry picked students who were musically inclined, so they could also provide entertainment in the downtime.
