VHCA gets win at Cincinnatus
CINCINNATUS – The Valley Heights basketball teams took the floor Tuesday night against Cincinnatus Christian in and ESCAL matchup. It was senior recognition night for Cincinnatus where Cliff Saplin, PJ Passalacqua and Brianna Harvey played their final home game.
The VHCA girls started the evening with another league win, ousting Cincinnatus 61-22. The Lady Crusaders were paced by senior forward Kristina Miedema, who was only two blocks shy of a triple-double. Miedema finished the game with 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight swats. Junior Hannah Vidler added 19 points to go along with five assists and six steals. VHCA's other senior, Rebecca Somers, had 14 points and 11 boards.
In the boys' contest, VHCA pulled away to an 83-57 victory. VHCA was led by Roger Rose and Luke Halberg who both scored a game-high 28 points. Rose added eight boards and five blocks, while Halberg had five assists to go with four steals. Roger's younger brother, Ryan, an 8th grader, added 16 points with 10 coming in the final quarter.
Senior PJ Passalacqua had a team-high 17 points in his final home game for Cincinnatus.
