CHENANGO COUNTY – At Wednesday afternoon’s meeting of the Industrial Development Agency, the board of directors held elections to determine who the agency’s officers would be.
Hugh Kearney opened the meeting, welcoming the board’s newest member, Thomas Knapp. Knapp took the place of Peter Kwasnik of Service Pharmacy.
The board then began its annual meeting elections. Kearney was re-elected to his post as Chairman of the Board.
“There are going to be a lot of changes now, because Maureen (Carpenter) is doing the job as she should be doing. It’s going to run more like a municipality should be run,” Kearney said, referring to the recent announcement that Carpenter is to fill the post of president and chief executive officer of the Commerce Chenango and the executive director of the IDA.
Lincklaen Town Supervisor Wayne Outwater was elected as the Vice Chairman. Betty Bytheway was elected as secretary and Knapp was elected assistant secretary. William Ballard was appointed as treasurer, with Kearney filling the assistant treasurer position.
The IDA took care of some more business, by announcing NBT Bank as its official depository, The Evening Sun as its official publication and James Downey as the agency’s legal counsel.
The agency also took the opportunity to officially appoint Carpenter as the executive director of the IDA, effective upon the date of her appointment as president and chief executive officer of Commerce Chenango. Carpenter will continue to act as interim executive director until that time.
“This will be our seventh executive director of the IDA,” said Kearney. “I hope this one lasts as long as the others combined.”
