Flood warning for Chenango River

SHERBURNE – With spring weather making its way into Chenango County, melting snow and precipitation have caused flooding to be a regular possibility. Today, the National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued another flood warning for the Chenango River.

A flood warning is in effect for the Chenango River at Sherburne from this evening until Tuesday night. The NWS in Binghamton reported that at 4 a.m. today, the river level was at 7.1 feet. The flood stage for Sherburne is 8 feet. Minor flooding is predicted.

The NWS forecasts the river will rise above flood stage by this evening, and that it will continue to rise, cresting at approximately 8.5 feet after midnight on Tuesday.
