Rollover on Dan Main Hill could have been a lot worse

NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Department and other emergency agencies responded Thursday morning to a car roll over on Dan Main Hill Road in Norwich.
Brandi Benedict, 26, of Pratt Road in Norwich, was traveling with her two children north along Dan Main Hill Road when she said she began hearing a strange noise coming from her rear tire. As she attempted to stop the car, she suddenly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer violently to the right, hitting an embankment and flipping her red Oldsmobile onto its roof.
On the opposite side of the road, there was an apprroximate 40-foot descent into a nearby stream. Police said the cause of the accident was mechanical, and no tickets were issued.
Benedict and her two children were treated at the scene by emergency crews and released. Both her children were secured in car safety seats, and Benedict was wearing her seatbelt, said police.
