Oxford Rotary makes donation to library building fund
OXFORD – The Oxford Rotary Club pledged a total of $4500 to the Oxford Memorial Library Expansion fund. Last year they presented the Library with a check in the amount of $2,000. That, combined with this year’s donation, completed their pledge amount.
The Oxford Memorial Library Building Fund is for a million dollar expansion and upgrade, for the 200 year old, library facility. For further Library Expansion Project information, brochure or donations call the Oxford Memorial Library at 843-6146.
Rotary is a world wide service organization that believes in giving back to their local communities. The Oxford Rotary helps to support community programs such as the Rotary Youth Leadership award, International Student Exchange program, and the annual college scholarships. Rotary also gives to worthwhile world causes such as the elimination of polio globally.
Most proceeds raised for these activities are done through fund raising projects. The Oxford Rotary has two major fund raisers each year. The first is their annual Rotary Auction and Chicken Barbecue, which will be held this year on June 9. Their second event is, co-sponsored with the Oxford Academy and Central School, the Clyde Cole Wrestling Tournament, which will be held on Dec. 7 & 8, 2007. The Oxford Rotary Club meets at 6:30 PM, each Thursday, at the Oxford American Legion, 17 South Washington Avenue. For inquiries, contact Gary Ives, 656-4696 ; email- g.i.ives@att.net .
