New restaurant opens at old Driftwood

NORWICH – A longtime diner on Hawley’s Corners in Norwich recently received an interior facelift and opened for business April 16 as “Mary’s On the Corner.”
Owners Mary and Saundra Gantt, formerly of Ozzie’s Restaurant, will be cooking up fresh, homemade breakfast and lunch fare daily from their new state Route 23 and East River Road venue. The restaurant is open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
The mother/daughter team brings 27 years of experience in the food and beverage industry. Exterior renovations to the building as well as dinner service are in store for the future, Mary said.
“As much as possible, everything is homemade and light, healthy,” she said.
