NORWICH – After a year of instruction and hard work, students from throughout the Norwich City School District will get the chance to show off some of their art work to the community today.
Norwich art teachers Margaret Fetzko from Stanford Gibson, Kathy Pfeifer from Perry Browne who is also the department chair, Val Michael from the middle school, Wayne Franklin, Chad Hoveru and Jay MacIntosh from the high school will present the 26th Annual Art Show named “Explore-Create-Display” from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 4 in the high school gymnasium..
Pfeifer says the all-day show should draw in hundreds of parents, teachers, and students. “The event will be colorful, intriguing and fun for viewers and student-artists.”
“The exhibit is a wonderful opportunity for students from grades kindergarten through 12 grade to display their work and for the community at large to see fine quality art that these students are producing,” said Pfeifer.
The artwork from all four school buildings will be on display. The show features mixed media, drawings, paintings, ceramics, sculptures, printmaking and photography.
The Norwich High School Art Club and the Visual Arts Honor Society will serve refreshments at the exhibit and there will be ice cream and music for all to enjoy. All proceeds go to benefit an arts scholarship at the Norwich High School. Admission is free. For more information contact Pfeifer at 334-1600 ext. 3034.
