SOUTH OTSELIC – Otselic Valley clinched its first postseason appearance in several seasons winning at home Wednesday against Brookfield.
Down a pair of runs early, OV plated seven runs in the third with Kim Lewis Rachel Evans, and Amber Wood connecting for RBI hits. Wood had two hits in the inning, Heather Eaton added a 3-for-5 day with an RBI, and Megan Knickerbocker was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
“We had a couple errors early and needed to regroup,” said OV coach Eileen Knickerbocker. “The third inning we were swinging the bat like we should, and they girls really wanted to go to sectionals.”
Wood picked up the win surrendering just four Brookfield hits. The Vikings (6-5, 6-7) host DeRuyter today in their regular season finale.
