Le Vent du Nord storms into the Earlville Opera House

EARLVILLE – Infectious instrumentals combine with traditional Quebecois melodies to create one knockout performance when Le Vent du Nord comes to the Earlville Opera House on Saturday, June 2 at 8 p.m.  With their mix of original and traditional songs, mostly in their native French, and their dynamic stage presence, Le Vent du Nord is known for getting the audience on their feet and dancing to their energetic repertoire.
Le Vent du Nord translates to the north wind.  The group exploded onto the folk music scene in 2002 and their first recording, Maudite moisson!, was awarded the JUNO for Traditional Album of the Year in 2004.  In 2005, the group was named North American Traditional Artist of the Year by the Folk Alliance.  They have topped the charts of well-known radio stations in Canada and Europe, including BBC3 in the UK, ahead of artists Youssou N’Dour and Peter Gabriel.  Le Vent du Nord tours extensively across the US, Canada, Quebec and Europe and are fast becoming known for their raucous and entertaining live performances.
Le Vent du Nord consists of four singers/multi-instrumentalists.  Hailing from Quebec, Simon Beaudry tours with the group on guitar and vocals.  Nicolas Boulerice has performed alongside musicians such as the jazz septet Ovo, Les Batinses, Benoit Charest, and Michel Faubert, in addition to co-founding the record label Roues et Archets, and specializing in Quebecois traditional music.  Rejean Brunet toured and recorded with La Volee d’Castors for 8 years, performing all over the world, before joining Le Vent du Nord.  Oliver Demers, although trained as a violinist and guitarist, has focused on traditional music and fiddle for the past ten years.
Join us for a high-energy concert with Le Vent du Nord on Saturday, June 2nd!  Tickets are $16 for the general public, $13 for EOH members, and $11 for students.  The EOH Theater is wheelchair-accessible with a ramp and a lift.  Don’t forget to visit the East and West Galleries and our Arts Café!  The café is always open before the performance and during intermission, and serves tasty desserts, refreshing summer drink classics, and hot coffee/tea as well.  For more information, or to reserve your seats, call 315-691-3550 or order online at www.earlvilleoperahouse.com.
Earlville Opera House events are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, and through the generosity of Earlville Opera House members.
