Village of Earlville may establish water districts
EARLVILLE – Recently, the Village of Earlville heard the results of an engineering study used to determine the problems with their water system and offer some possible solutions. While the repairs would be helpful for areas inside the village limits, areas in outlying areas may not fare so well.
Brian Skidmore, senior project engineer for the engineering firm Barton and Loguidice told the village where in the water system the problem areas were and what they could do to fix them. The village has been having problems with brown and discolored water running from their taps for years. Skidmore explained that while the village could work to replace pipes and water mains in the village, they would be unable to make the same changes in areas served by the village water that lie outside their limits.
Currently the village water system supplys areas slightly outside of the village limits to the west and east of the village. “As part of this project, the village can’t replace mains outside of the village limits,” said Skidmore.
