Rash of accidents in the past few days
NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police along with several other police and fire emergency crews responded to four different accidents in the past few days.
• Lynn Manwarren, 78, South Plymouth, suffered severe head injuries and was airlifted to Upstate Medical in Syracuse Thursday morning. Manwarren was traveling along State Rt. 23 in Plymouth when he lost control of his vehicle and veered off into a culvert.
• Bernard Brunza was traveling east bound on Pratt Road in the Town of Norwich Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle to avoid a deer. His vehicle skidded sideways off the road and into a nearby creek bed. Police responded to the scene and arrested Brunza after he failed a field sobriety test. Brunza was later released to a third party. He recieved minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
• Michele L. Gardner, 26, Cortland, was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana, after a motor vehicle accident Friday afternoon. She was stopped on Red Mill Road in the Town of Norwich. She was not seriously injured and received treament at the scene.
• David J. Micha, 18, Greene was riding his four-wheeler down Turk Road in Greene at 4:45 a.m. Thursday and failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic when approaching a stop sign. Micha was hit by an oncoming vehicle while attempting to make a left turn. He was ticketed for operating an ATV on a public highway and operating an uninsured ATV. He was not seriously injured in the collision and was treated at the scene.
