NORWICH – Chenango County Court came into session Monday to preside over several cases.

The first to stand before the court was Robert R. Davy, 65, accused of driving while intoxicated. This is Davy’s fifth DWI, and he is trying to get a deal that would allow him to get his charge reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. The defense says he will be unable to continue his job as a quality control advisor if convicted of a felony. The District Attorney’s Office demanded written proof of Davy’s work issue before even attempting to make a deal. He has been scheduled to reappear in court July 9. Davy may also be considered eligible for drug treatment court.

• Mark A. Cunningham appeared in court charged with possessing child pornography on his home computer. According to court reports, Cunningham allegedly got involved in an online chat room with an individual who threatened to blackmail him for $500. Cunningham contacted police and handed over his computer in response to the threat. He was arrested soon after, once police discovered images of underage children on his hard drive.

Cunningham was released from the county jail after posting the $20,000 bond bail. The court reminded Cunningham of his restrictions, and he left court until July 9. If convicted, he could face from 1 to 3 years in prison.
