Not just your typical hot dog stand

NORWICH – Every day, those few precious minutes of freedom granted to workers during their lunch break sends many scrambling to the best deals around.

Cooked fresh to order, Hot Diggety Dog caters to a long line of patrons, beginning at their break time of about 11 a.m. to the conclusion of most late lunch hours at around 2 p.m. The local hot dog stand has become so popular that is has a call-in pre-order option available and will deliver “reasonable orders within a reasonable distance, we’ve got to at least pay for the gas,” said owner Barry Katz.

Barry and his wife, Trish created their business from scratch after moving to the area from down state this past September. The couple owned and operated their own restaurant in Long Island called the Bunnery Inn.

“Our slogan is ‘We’re not just dogs.’ We’ve got phillies, hot dogs, hamburgers, wraps and chicken. Thursday’s grilled marinated chicken is one of our biggest hits,” said Barry.
