AFTON – Nine year old Kaitlyn Jackson will be featured at the Afton Fair from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. She will be singing many country and pop favorites, including songs by teen pop stars, Hannah Montana and the Cheetah Girls. Kaitlyn’s father, John Jackson will also be joining her on stage for several duets and solo’s himself.
Kaitlyn has been performing on stage since she was five years old. She began singing duets with her father at various events and has since branched out on her own. Last December Kaitlyn sang Christmas medleys with Kenny Rogers and Linda Davis at the Kenny Rogers Christmas Concert held in Delhi. More recently, Kaitlyn received rave reviews following her half hour performance at the NBT sponsored Family Fun Zone during the July 4th celebration which featured Emerson Drive in Norwich. Kaitlyn and John have also put on performances in Afton for the Heroes Recognition Weekend, as well as events at the Belden Hill Camp Grounds.
Kaitlyn has won numerous local singing and square dance calling competitions since she was six years old. In addition to singing, Kaitlyn also loves to dance and perform on stage. Kaitlyn has danced for seven years. She began her instruction at ABC in Sidney and has spent the last two years at the Amber Perkins School of the Arts in Norwich. As for acting, Kaitlyn already has an impressive resume. She has performed in various plays such as: Annie, The Sound of Music, Miracle on 34th Street, Oliver, Oklahoma, and most recently 101 Dalmatians where she was cast as Cruella De Vil. Kaitlyn has even auditioned for the Broadway production of The Lion King and the National Tour of Annie in New York City.
Following Kaitlyn and John Jackson’s performance on Saturday, the fair will be holding the finals for the Junior Idol Competition (see right). Then at 4 p.m., the Route 66 Band will close out the afternoon at the entertainment tent.
