Curves moves to downtown Norwich
NORWICH – The storefront location in Norwich’s North Plaza where Curves for Women has been open for the past four and a half years is now vacant.
As of Wednesday, the women’s fitness center opened the doors at its new location on South Broad Street in the City of Norwich.
“The main reason for the move was we thought the closer we were to downtown the better,” said Curves Manager Melissa Lapadula. “We felt a little out of the way in the plaza.”
Lapadula said the experience in Norwich so far has been great, and that many of the members who regularly attend Curves now started the first week the facility was open. Because Curves offers a 30-minute circuit routine focusing on both strength training and cardio, it is easy to fit the exercise regiment into a daily routine. Lapadula, who has been with Curves since it opened, said she has seen many success stories during her time. She herself lost 59 pounds and kept it off with the Curves workout.
“It can easily become part of your life and routine,” said Lapadula. “We have a nice community here.” The store manager said the 30-minute circuit gives a total body work out from start to finish. The staff can even weigh and measure clients, if they so desire, to track their progress. “We have some women who have really transformed, losing 50 or even 100 pounds,” Lapadula said.
Curves now occupies the former Silvernail’s Florist location at 21 South Broad Street. The fitness center is open Monday and Wednesday from 5:50 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from noon to 7 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m., Friday from 5:50 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. A monthly membership costs $29.
“Anybody who is not sure they want to commit can come in for a free workout at any time. That way they can decide for themselves,” Lapadula said.
Curves is currently offering a summer special. Anyone who joins now will get the rest of the summer free. For more information stop in at the new location, or call 336-1100.
