Golden Artist Colors shows-off new gallery

COLUMBUS – Golden Artist Colors, known around the world for being the maker of fine acrylic artist’s paints, celebrated the opening of their first show in their newly designed art gallery last Thursday.
Hanging artwork for all to enjoy owners Mark and Barbara Golden say was their goal once the gallery space in their newest addition was built. Over three years ago, the Golden Artist gallery was removed to make way for an applications area where their crew of staff could inform and teach how to use their products and teach art and technique. The new gallery is part of the building project which broke ground roughly four year ago.
Corporate Communications Specialist Jodi O’Dell says the concept was born from wanting to create a high quality gallery to provide professional shows to renowned artists.
Among the crowd Thursday, were distributors, bankers who aided construction, friends, family, employees and the artists who made the evening a possibility. The Golden’s agree having the gallery will bring an insight and connection between their staff, community and the relationship that has been made with some of the greatest artists of the era.
The opening; “A Gathering of Friends” combined an array of artists who represented what Golden paint can surely create in the right hands. These artist were selectively chosen to be included in the opening show due to the fact they have been a symbol of Golden Artist history. The stories behind the relationship of each of the artists carry close ties with the Golden business. With the help of Jim Walsh the specialized selection was put together.
Artists on hand for the opening included; Dan Christensen, Susan Roth, Paul Jenkins, Herb Jackson, Phil Young, Steve Achimore, Frank Stella, Dale Chihuly and Jules Olitski.
All of the artists featured at the opening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., brought with them their masterpieces of acrylic on canvas, most of which were abstract in the paint medium.
The Gallery was built to resemble a gallery that could be found in New York City, with its open spaces and bare backdrop walls giving way to each piece as it was displayed.
The Golden Artist Colors Gallery was built to allow the public as well as the staff to see the high quality art the Golden label can create and enjoy. Changing the art on display and featuring artists who use Golden name are scheduled to happen regularly. The next “gathering” will be held in October.
