Zydeco favorite Rosie Ledet comes to Norwich tonight
NORWICH – A past favorite at the Chenango Blues Festival is returning to Norwich tonight to headline the third week in the Chenango Blues Association’s free summer concert series.
Louisiana native Rosie Ledet and her Zydeco band were well received when they played here three years ago, association members say, and they expect tonight to be no different.
“Zydeco bands are almost always our most popular shows of the year and Rosie Ledet is one of the best artists out there,” said Blues Festival Board member Tim Andrews. “I can’t wait to see her again in Norwich after her festival performance.”
In fact, Ledet has been well received all over the country. According to The New York Times, “If the Allman Brothers went zydeco they would probably sound like Rosie Ledet.”
The show starts at 7 p.m. in the West Side Park. The rain location will be the Chenango County Council of the Arts’ Martin Kappel Theater on West Main Street across from the library.
The Norwich Elks Club will also be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs in the park.
This is the third week in a five-week series sponsored by NBT, with the help of other businesses and community organizations, that leads up to Chenango Blues Festival held Aug. 17 and 18 at the county fairgrounds in Norwich.
