Free concert kicks off Fair opener

NORWICH – “Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen” will wrap-up the Chenango Blues Association’s Free Summer Concert Series tonight, the opening night of the Chenango County Fair.
Admission is to the fair and the show is free.
The show will begin inside the entertainment tent as soon as the Firemen’s Parade ends at approximately 7:30 p.m. Organizers encourage people to get there early because the parade will slow up traffic.
“Get there early and have something to eat and enjoy the Fair and the parade before seeing a wonderful free show,” said Blues Association member Eric Larsen.
“I was asking Chip Eagle, the national editor of Blues Revue Magazine, who the best act he saw last year was and his answer surprised me,” said Larsen. “I mean, he sees everybody there is out there, from B.B. King and Bonnie Raitt to Buddy Guy. He said the best show this year was put on by ‘Commander Cody’ – so you know this is going to be a great show.”
“I’m sure they'll be playing their classics like “’Hot Rod Lincoln’ and ‘Lost in the Ozone,’ along with a lot of great boogie woogie and old school rock and roll.”
On Aug. 17, the Blues will be back in the same tent to open the Chenango Blues Festival with local favorites the “Sidetrack Blues Band” and the nationally acclaimed “Eric Lindell Band.”
