Man faces life in prison over child rape charges

NORWICH – A man indicted on six separate counts of rape for allegedly repeatedly forcing a girl under the age of 13 to have sex with him appeared in County Court Monday.

Dean M. Sacco, 48, 148 Randolph St., Jersey City, N.J., is charged with three counts of first degree rape (a class B violent felony) and three counts of second degree rape (a class D felony) for committing criminal sexual acts and first-degree course of sexual conduct.

Sacco appeared in court Monday in hopes of reaching a plea bargain agreement with the prosecution. After a brief closed-door conference, the District Attorney’s Office and Sacco’s attorney, Scott Clippinger, failed to reach an agreement. The court will now give the defense 45 days to enter any motions and then offer the DA’s office 45 days after that to reply, after that the case will be moved to trial.

“Mr. Sacco needs to be removed from our community and needs go to prison for a long time,” said District Attorney Joseph McBride.
