Two Chenango County Firemen to be honored at convention

CHENANGO COUNTY – This week, the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York will hold their 135 annual Firefighter’s Convention in Cheektowaga. The convention, which includes information about safety, volunteerism and equipment, will also include a memorial service where two Chenango County Firemen will be recognized.

“It (the convention) is a time for all the volunteer firefighters across the state to get together to share ways to improve fire safety, discuss ways to increase the amount of volunteers and to show advancements the fire safety service has generated over the past few years and into the coming years,” said Firemen’s Association member Ryan Watson.

The event is said to host volunteer firefighters from across New York state. During the four day convention, programs will include specialized fire safety seminars for members of the fire service; awards and honors for Firefighter, EMS Personnel, Teacher and Fire Safety Educator of the Year; as well as firefighter competitions.
