CHENANGO COUNTY – The New York State Department of Education has released lists of high performing schools and districts that are showing rapid improvement, and several Chenango County area schools have made the list.

Information provided by the Department of Education states “High performing schools and districts have been recognized because during the 2005-06 school year, they met all applicable standards for English and math and also made adequate yearly progress in English and math for two consecutive years.”

A record number of New York schools made the list for high performing schools and districts. Of all the eligible schools and districts in New York, 48 percent of schools and 42 percent of districts made the list. Schools in the Chenango County area include Greene Central School District, Intermediate and Middle School, Afton Elementary School, Bainbridge-Guilford Central School District and Elementary School, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School District and Elementary School and Sherburne-Earlville Elementary.
