OXFORD – Oxford found itself in a much more difficult matchup than usual with the feisty Warriors Saturday.
Christi Baker had first-half goals for Oxford (5-3) tallying at 20:08 and 11:11. The win was the fifth in six games for Oxford, who gave up a second-half goal to Sidney’s Meredith Delello. “I give them credit, they came out and played well in the second half,” said Oxford coach Missy Chrystie of the Warriors. “We had plenty of opportunities, but weren’t able to put in another goal.”
Oxford plays Harpursville Wednesday.

GREENE – Unadilla Valley broke through as the first team to get a win over Greene this year ending the Trojans’ six-game winning streak.
Amanda Peek scrambled for the opening goal at 11:30, and Jessica Lorence capitalized on a deep throw-in for the next goal just 2 1/2 minutes later.
Greene’s only goal came off a direct kick from Megan McDermott. That proved one of the few scoring opportunities for Greene, said head coach Randy Smith, who singled out the UV defense as a key to the game. “The story was their defense, especially Kate Ross,” Smith said. “She did a phenomenal job back there for them, and we couldn’t break down their defense. I think they kind of outplayed us today.”
The win improved UV’s mark to 6-2 on the season.
