Chenango County 4-H excels At NYS Fair

Congratulations on a job well-done to many Chenango County youth as they made their way to Syracuse to compete with their animals at the 2007 New York State Fair. Their hard work and dedication certainly paid off as they successfully represented Chenango County. The following competed in the State Youth Shows:

Beef:
Justin Betts – 1st Junior Fitting and Showmanship, 4th Senior Hereford Heifer Calf, 3rd Senior
Hereford Yearling, 1st Place Herdsmanship

Dairy Goats:
Kara Abrams – 14 Top-10 finishes in the American Alpine and Nubian divisions, 5th
Intermediate Showmanship, Grand Champion Alpine and Reserve in Show
Kassie Abrams – 1st Senior Fitting and Showmanship & Master Showman, 18 Top-10
finishes in the American Alpine and Nubian divisions, Grand Champion & Reserve Jr.

Logan Stoltman – 1st Saanen 2-Yr.-Old Doe, 1st Jr. Showmanship, Reserve Sr. & Gr. Ch. Saanen,
Highest Milk Producing Goat of the 4-H Show

In addition to all of these awards, Logan Stoltman was the 2007 recipient of the Youth Dairy Goat Achievement Award which is given in memory of Chenango County resident, goat breeder, and 4-H supporter, Carolyn Funk. This award recognizes to the 4-Her of the week, someone who shows exemplary citizenship (volunteering for various set ups, clean ups, etc.) during the week at State Fair. Logan is the youngest person and the first member of Chenango County 4-H to have won this award. Great job Logan!
