Sherburne cuts the ribbon on Westlake Village
SHERBURNE – After months of waiting, the owners of the Sherburne-based West Lake Village received the official approval from the New York State Attorney General’s Office to begin selling their condominiums to aging adults.
On Friday, a grand opening celebration was held at West Lake Village. The 37 acre lot, located at 36 West State Street in the Village of Sherburne, currently has 16 completed condominiums for sale, and future plans call for the construction of 70 more. Although some of the condominiums have been completed for several months, owners Donald Westcott and Scott Simpson were unable to go forward with selling the properties until they received the approval of the Attorney General’s Office.
“We have been working on this approval for over six months. Without it, we were unable to sell our condominiums. Now that we have the approval, it is time to turn our dreams into reality,” Westcott said.
The Westlake Village units offer a wealth of variety. The condominium homes, built in blocks of eight, will offer single story, two-bedroom and one-bath units on the ends. Middle units will be two-story homes with three bedrooms.
According to a press release sent by the company, the homes are highly energy efficient and require little maintenance. Prices for the homes range from $147,400 to $178,000.
Westlake Village provides community living based on the Eldershire philosophy. Residents of the village will be living in a community where they can be actively involved in the decisions that affect their community. In addition to the condominium unit, each resident will have an attached garage and access to several shared amenities. A community house is available, with a large dining room for shared meals and several guest and gathering rooms. Indoor and outdoor recreation facilities will be housed on site, as well as a lake, gardens, a tiki bar and walking trail. In addition, the homes are within walking distance to downtown Sherburne.
“Westlake Village living offers its members the opportunity to challenge the philosophy of aging and bring to life a new vision,” the press release stated. For more information about Westlake Village, visit the web site at www.wlvcommunity.com or call the sales office at 674-2650.
