Cyclones take three of four from Camden
NORWICH – The Cyclones’ "C" team remained undefeated and clinched their ninth straight Tri-Valley League division championship with a 20-0 win over Camden Sunday.
John Marvin opened the scoring on a three-yard TD run after Michael Oralls raced 43 yards to the three in the first two minutes. Jordan Vinal scored the point-after touchdown on a pass from Tristan Rifanburg. Also in the first quarter, Michael Oralls reached paydirt on a 14-yard touchdown jaunt.
Marvin scored again in the second quarter on 20-yard TD toss from Rifanburg. Cameron Edwards’ pass to Vinal for the extra point ended Cyclones scoring.
The Blue Devils were held in check by the Cyclones’ defense led by Oralls, Marvin, Matt Craig, Storm Cook, Half Nelson, Landon Cummings, Everett Thompson, Eric Bishop, Ian Steward, Collin Fern, and Killian Benedict.
The Cyclones’ "B" team upended Camden 35-7.
Keagan Franklin opened Cyclones’ scoring with a 14-yard TD jaunt. Matt Murray scored a TD on a blocked punt with Jaden MacRabie kicking the PAT – all in the first quarter. Robbie Wheeler had a three-yard TD run, and MacRabie a 15-yard TD run in the second. MacRabie kicked another PAT for the 28-0 halftime lead.
In the fourth, Franklin closed the Cyclones scoring with on a 63-yard gallop to paydirt.
Michael Sutton, Murray, Graydon Murphy, Alex Tubolino, Frank Garcia, and Trent Stone all played big defense.
The Cyclones "A" team took care of the Blue Devils shutting them out, 24-0.
In the first quarter, the Cyclones embarked on an eight-minute drive to the endzone, culminated by quarterback Dennis Oralls’ one-yard sneak. Paul Wonka added a three-yard TD in the second leading the running game with 94 yards on the day. Kyle Edwards ran the ball well also.
Oralls added another one-yard touchdown sneak in the fourth. Nate Ashton was 3-for-3 in point-after kicks.
On defense, Cassie Sutton put on a clinic with many hard tackles for Blue Devils losses. Tanner Cummings, Grady Thompson, Antonio Loscavio, Cody Bradbury, and Grant Brightman led the defense. Ashton had an interception, and Edwards a blocked a punt.
The biggest defensive play of the game was by Jeff Witt. After the Cyclones fumbled at the Camden 2. The fumble was picked up and a race to the south endzone was on. Witt, spotting the Blue Devils runner 10 yards, caught him with a shoestring tackle at the Cyclones 15 to preserve the shutout.
The Cyclones’ "D" team never trailed until 1:21 remaining against Camden, and lost a heartbreaker, 18-13, on a fourth-and-26 TD run by the Blue Devils.
The Cyclones are away on Sunday, Oct. 14 with the D team playing North Utica at 11 a.m., the C team at 1 p.m., and A team at 3 p.m. The B team will play at Chittenango at 2 p.m.
