Mt. Upton stages annual ghost walk next weekend
MOUNT UPTON – In the daylight, set along Route 18 this cottage-style home may look like the heartwarming abode seen in story books. However, as Halloween nears, witches and other spooky characters can be spotted roaming throughout the open meadow while torch lamps are lit and a cemetery is seen under the old crooked tree out back.
For over a dozen years this pink cottage with an open field transforms into a Halloween wonderland for audiences young and old. The show “On the Moors,” not recommended for children under six, consists of up to 15 actors and actresses telling hair-raising tales and scary spine-chilling stories while walking guests a quarter of a mile along the meadow lines.
The mood will be set as torch and fire lights guide audiences along the way while a total of 10 stories will be read. The performers will be in costume to make the tails come alive. “There’s nothing scarier than ghost stories, at night,” says program director Judy Spychalski.
