ROME – Greene won its twelfth game of the season and repeated as Rome Tournament champions with a pair of shutout wins this past weekend.
The finals against the host squad, Christine Conroe and Andrea Day scored goals getting assists each time from tournament MVP Holly Davis.
Friday, after a slow start, the Trojans’ Anna Crumb put her team on the board with eight minutes left in the first half against Little Falls. Davis then scored with seven seconds remaining in the opening 30 minutes. Davis also dished out assists in the second half to goal-scores Day and Erin Smith. “ Little Falls started out strong, then we started clicking and pressuring,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin.
Aside from Davis’ honor, Conroe, Crumb, Smith, and Alyssa David were named to the all-tournament team.

Karli Harris had three goals, the first less than two minutes into play, and Courtney Kurtz scored twice during a six-goal first half for the Marauders.
“We dominated play passing the ball and spreading the field,” Cooman said. “It was good preparation for our league game against Sauquoit Valley (Monday).”

NEW BERLIN – Until Friday afternoon’s win over Walton, UV’s Jessica Lorence had never had a multi-goal game.
Lorence broke a 1-1 tie connecting on a penalty kick at 23:36, and had the last three Storm goals for a four-goal outing in a scoring shootout against the Warriors.
Walton tied the game at 29 minutes on Eliel VanBuren’s goal, but Lorence responded shortly thereafter knocking in a long-range shot under the crossbar.
Lorence hit a bending cornerkick at16 minutes that deflected off the goalie’s hands for a two-goal lead, and Diandra Rudler fed Lorence for the scoring capper at 17:58.
“It was our senior game and we had a great team effort,” said UV coach Chris Bieniek, whose club improved to 12-4-1 overall.
The Storm defense did not allow a Walton shot in the second half, and plays at Sidney Tuesday.

Noah Huff led the Marauders over a winding circuit that resembled a steeplechase course finishing in 20:05. “We had a nice, solid team finish,” said S-E coach Anne Geary, who had all five runners finish within 2 1/2 minutes of each other. “There were a lot of double-A and A schools there, so I think our kids fared well. It was not an easy course, and the kids stepped it up.”
The Marauders run in the Center State Conference meet next Saturday afternoon in Oriskany.
