Two tasty events at 6 On The Square
OXFORD – Tonight at 6 p.m., start the weekend off with “Local Tastes and Local Talent”, all open to the public free of charge! From 6 to about 8 p.m. you’ll be able to sample a wide variety of professionally prepared, locally produced foods - like the Evans Farmhouse Creamery yogurt and Upstate Harvest granola – and then stay to enjoy the performers at Open Mic.
On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., 6OTS proudly presents the Jamie Notarthomas Trio. Jamie Notarthomas, well known in the central New York area, is a veteran of the independent music scene, dazzling audiences for more than a dozen years with his inspired performances and original blend of folk music with nearly any other style. Forming a “tasty” trio, Jamie brings along a bass player and percussionist.
Says the Elmira Star Gazette, “He goes from jazzy blues to funky rock to Celtic swing & back again, meeting the demands of those vocal styles while keeping his own identity intact.”
As a songwriter, Jamie has honed his skill to create a potent and eloquent tool for expression: Critics compare the style to Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie and Neil Young. Some songs are hilarious; others carry messages of preservation, compassion, tolerance and beauty of nature.
Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $18, until the day of the show; $20 on the day of the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Visit the website at www.6onthesquare.org for tickets and future event information.
In addition to these performances, 6 On The Square is currently featuring an art exhibit of paintings by Norwich artist, Henry J. Drexler.
6OTS is located at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford. Phone: (607) 843-OTS6 (6876).
