Harlem Rockets to perform in Norwich

NORWICH – The Harlem Rockets, renowned comedy basketball team will challenge the newly formed “Dollars for Scholars Dunkers” team at the Norwich High School gymnasium at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The event is presented by the Norwich Dollars for Scholars, a volunteer organization that provides local students with scholarships to pursue post-secondary education.
Martha Ryan, public relations volunteer for Dollars for Scholars commented, “This is an excellent opportunity for our community to enjoy an evening of family entertainment and help us reach or goals to support our kids with scholarships to follow their education dreams.”
The Harlem Rockets, a group of highly talented former college and professional basketball players will challenge our local team with an entertaining sports comedy act. The event is sponsored by Benedict Corporation and Leigh Baldwin and Associates. “We are grateful for these business organizations, our local media and the many volunteers who helped us put this event together. We invite everyone to join us and help us continue our mission to support our local students with financial support that can help them offset the rising cost of a college education,” said Ryan.

Tickets outlets are at the Norwich Service Pharmacy, The Norwich Family YMCA and the main Norwich branch of NBT Bank. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Norwich Dollars for Scholars general scholarship fund.
Dollars for Scholars, a program of Scholarship America, is a national network of more than 1,200 grassroots, community-based, volunteer-driven scholarship foundations located throughout the United States. Norwich Dollars for Scholars is one of multiple chapters in the country. The local organization was founded in 2004 and last year awarded 21 scholarships totaling $12,500 to residents within the Norwich City School District students pursuing post-secondary education.
