Sheriff Dept. chases wanted drunk driver through city

NORWICH – Saturday night, Sheriff’s deputies were led on a vehicle pursuit in the City of Norwich after patrols noticed a man driving along North Broad Street at 65 miles per hour.

Police arrested 40-year-old Glenn W. Rolland of Livingston Manor for over a dozen crimes ranging from felony offenses to traffic violations. Police said Rolland was driving while intoxicated, had a suspended license, resisted arrest and fled marked police vehicles. He was officially charged with DWI, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, third degree fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, petit larceny (warrant), failure to comply, reckless driving, speeding, refusing to submit to a chemical test and numerous other vehicle and traffic law violations.

After deputies clocked Rolland speeding at 65 mph along the 30 mph zone on North Broad Street, a patrol attempted to pull him over. Rolland ignored police and led them on a pursuit through the city until he eventually pulled over on Henry Street.
