Police investigate Halloween shooting in Columbus
COLUMBUS – The New York State Police in Norwich, along with the Chenango County Sheriff’s Department are conducting an investigation into a shooting which occurred on Oct. 31. Investigation revealed that on Oct. 31, at approximately 11:30 p.m.., Chenango County 911 received a report of an accidental shooting which occurred at a residence on County Route 41 in the Town of Columbus. Members of the New York State Police and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Department responded and learned that a 20 year old male had apparently been shot in the right wrist with a handgun.
The victim was initially treated at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. He was later transported to Wilson Regional Memorial Hospital in Johnson City where he underwent surgery and was released on Friday. The investigation is continuing.
