Great weekend of music at 6 On The Square

OXFORD – Six On The Square (6OTS) kicks off your weekend with two great shows: Rod Picott on Friday, and Shapiro & Shore on Saturday.
On Friday at 7:30 p.m., 6OTS presents Rod Picott. Rod’s slightly raspy voice makes you feel like you’re listening to an old friend as you sit back and take in his sometimes reflective, sometimes compelling music. You may recognize some of the songs he has written that have been performed by Fred Eaglesmith or Slaid Cleaves, or maybe heard Rod when he opened for Alison Krauss. Rod is an “underground talent” who will make you one of his biggest fans after listening to him for only a few minutes.
Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $12 until the day of the show; $15 on the day of the show.
On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., 6OTS presents Phil Shapiro and Carrie Shore...the American Folk Tradition. Phil is a legend in folk music because of his long-time Ithaca radio program, “Bound For Glory.” Add Carrie’s fiddle and harmonizing vocals to Phil’s guitar and lead, and you have an unmatched duo performing American folk music - and proud of it! They share their love of folk music with the audience - their energy and enthusiasm is catching and you’ll find yourself singing along with the familiar tunes.
Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $12 until the day of the show; $15 on the day of the show.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. both nights. Visit the website at www.6onthesquare.org for tickets and future event information.
In addition to these performances, 6 On The Square is currently featuring an art exhibit of paintings by Norwich artist, Henry J. Drexler.
6OTS is located at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford.  Phone: 843-OTS6 (6876).
